DIY: OSX Anti Theft Software for the Macbook Pro
This is a tutorial for setting up your own open-source "anti-theft" software in OSX. Upon completion of this tutorial, you will have a system daemon that will securely perform, nearly all of the core functions as many paid macbook / Macbook Pro anti-theft applications provide.
Be advised, this guide is aimed towards those with a bit of Unix/Linux knowledge, so if there are points that are not clear to novice users, do not hesitate to contact me for clarifications.
pfSense IPSec VPN Gateway + Amazon VPC + BGP Routing
This is a howto guide for establishing an IPSec VPN tunnel to an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) using the pfSense 2.0 (RC1) open source router / firewall distribution. We will use Border Gateway Protocol (BGPv4) inside the tunnel, between the inside IP addresses, to exchange routes from the VPC to the example network using the OpenBGPD software package (available in the pfsense distribution as an add-on package).
Registering Amazon EC2 Instances on Multiple ELB's
I've come across the issue several times recently, where the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Management Console does not allow you to regsiter instances on more than one Elastic Load Balancer (ELB).
The key to getting around this issue is to use the ELB API tools after creating an ELB (whether it be through the management console or through the EC2 API).
Install Snorby for pfSense Snort Integration
This is a guide to installing Snorby running on an Ubuntu Server machine, for integration with a Snort instance on pfSense. This howto should also work on Debian and other Debian-based distributions, however I HIGHLY recommend NOT using Debian itself in any production environment, due to the distributions lack of compile time security options in its packages (blog about this to come).
